Welcome to NordicLys (“the Platform”), an online peer-support community operated by NordicLys (“we”, “our”, or “us”). NordicLys provides moderated spaces where adults can connect through shared experiences and emotional support.

By accessing or using NordicLys, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using NordicLys, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the Platform, legal requirements, or safety practices. The most current version will always be available on this page. Continued use of the Platform after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Eligibility

NordicLys is intended for adults aged 18 years or older.

By using the Platform, you confirm that:

  • You are at least 18 years old

  • You are legally capable of entering into a binding agreement under applicable law

We do not knowingly allow access to minors. Accounts found to belong to users under 18 may be suspended or permanently removed.

3. User Accounts & Registration

To access certain features, you may be required to create an account.

When registering, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information

  • Use only your own account and not impersonate others

  • Keep your login credentials confidential

  • Take responsibility for all activity under your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose a risk to the community or Platform integrity.

4. Nature of the Platform (Important Notice)

NordicLys is a peer-support platform, not a medical, psychological, or therapeutic service.

Specifically:

  • We do not provide professional mental health treatment, diagnosis, or medical advice

  • We do not offer crisis intervention or emergency services

  • Content shared on the Platform reflects personal experiences and opinions of users

Participation is voluntary and self-directed.

NordicLys facilitates peer-to-peer communication and does not assume responsibility for monitoring, evaluating, or verifying user-generated content. While we apply reasonable moderation practices, we do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of content shared by users.

If you are in immediate danger, experiencing a mental health crisis, or require urgent support, you should contact local emergency services (e.g. 112 in Sweden and Norway) or a licensed professional in your country.

5. Community Use & Conduct

You are responsible for how you use NordicLys and for the content you share.

You agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, intimidate, or harm others

  • Share hateful, abusive, sexually exploitative, or illegal content

  • Encourage self-harm, suicide, or harm to others

  • Share personal or sensitive information about others without consent

  • Use the Platform for spam, solicitation, promotion, or unlawful purposes

We aim to keep NordicLys a calm, respectful, and emotionally safe space. We may remove content or restrict access when reasonably necessary to protect users and the community.

6. Content, Moderation & Digital Services Act

6.1 User Content & Moderation

  • Users are solely responsible for the content they post

  • NordicLys applies moderation practices to support safety and legal compliance

  • Content may be reviewed, restricted, or removed if it violates these Terms or applicable law

We do not guarantee that all content will be reviewed immediately or that harmful content will never appear.

6.2 EU Digital Services Act (DSA)

NordicLys acts as a hosting service provider within the meaning of the EU Digital Services Act.

  • We are not liable for user-generated content unless we have actual knowledge of illegal content and fail to act expeditiously to remove or disable access to it

  • NordicLys has no general obligation to monitor user content

  • We provide mechanisms for users to report illegal or harmful content

7. Privacy & Data Protection

Your use of NordicLys is subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect personal data.

NordicLys complies with:

  • GDPR (EU Regulation 2016/679)

  • Swedish Data Protection Act (Dataskyddslagen)

  • Norwegian Personal Data Act (Personopplysningsloven)

7.1 Sensitive Personal Data (Explicit Consent)

By choosing to share emotional, mental, or personal experiences on NordicLys, you acknowledge that such information may constitute special category personal data under Article 9 of the GDPR.

You provide explicit consent to the processing of this data for the purposes of:

  • Providing peer support

  • Platform functionality

  • Safety and moderation

You may withdraw this consent at any time by deleting your content or contacting us, without affecting processing already carried out.

8. Intellectual Property

All Platform content, including text, design, logos, trademarks, and software, is owned by or licensed to NordicLys.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or modify Platform content without prior written permission, except where permitted by mandatory law.

9. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

NordicLys is provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis.

We do not guarantee:

  • Continuous, uninterrupted, or error-free access

  • Accuracy or reliability of user-generated content

  • Any specific outcomes from participation

To the maximum extent permitted by law, NordicLys shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Platform.

Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be excluded under applicable EU, Swedish, or Norwegian consumer protection law.

10. Account Suspension & Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if:

  • You violate these Terms

  • Your behavior threatens user safety or Platform integrity

  • Suspension or termination is required by law

Decisions are made proportionately, and users may be informed of the reason for such action where appropriate, subject to safety and legal considerations.

You may stop using NordicLys or delete your account at any time.

11. International Use

NordicLys may be accessed from different countries. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the Platform complies with applicable local laws.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by applicable European Union / EEA law and the national laws of the country in which NordicLys is legally established.

If you are a consumer residing in Sweden, Norway, or another EEA country, mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence shall apply and take precedence where applicable.

13. Dispute Resolution

If a dispute arises, we encourage you to contact us first to seek an informal resolution.

If unresolved, disputes will be handled in accordance with applicable EU, Swedish, or Norwegian consumer and civil law.

14. Miscellaneous

Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain valid.

Entire Agreement
These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and NordicLys regarding use of the Platform.
